• To cover the whole of Delhi with a Metro Network by the year 2021.
• Delhi metro to be of world class standards in regard to safety, reliability, punctuality, comfort and customer satisfaction.
•  Metro to operate on sound commercial lines obviating the need for Government support.

TRAINING SCHOOL

A training school for Metro Operating and Maintenance Staff has been set up at Shastri Park. Under an agreement with the Hong Kong Metro Railway, 60 employees of DMRC have been trained on their system. These employees after completing their training, have returned and have trained the staff locally recruited for Delhi Metro.Regular training is held for new recruits through induction programmes apart from refresher training for experienced employees in all categories of staff including Train operators, Station controllers, maintenance Staff etc.

LADIES COACH IN METRO

DMRC reserved a separate coach for ladies from 2nd October 2010 In view of the increasing number of lady passengers travelling on the Metro. The reserved ladies’ coach will be the first coach next to the driver’s cab in every train and children up to 12 years accompanied by lady passengers will also be allowed to travel in the reserved coacSince the day Delhi Metro granted the city’s ladies a metro coach reserved exclusively for them, there has been no looking back. From verbal spats to catfights, they’ve done it all. Being a girl in a city like Delhi has its own negative points, not the least of them being that you’re forced to travel in that darned ladies coach. After all, you have only two options to choose from – either to be leered at by every satyr standing or sitting around you, or to travel in the “supposed” safety of the women’s compartment. PROJECT UPDATE: PRESENT SCENARIO

DELHI

Line 1 (Dilshad Garden- rithala)

Line - 1 (Dilshad Garden - Rithala) was made operational for commercial services in four stages:

(1) Shahdara - Tis Hazari : with effect from 25^th December, 2002 (Phase - I).

(2) Tis Hazari - Inderlok : with effect from 4^th October, 2003 (Phase - I).

(3) Inderlok - Rithala : with effect from 1^st April, 2004 (Phase - I).

(4) Dilshad Garden - Shahdara : with effect from 3^rd June 2008 (Phase - II).

Line 2 ( HUDA City Centre - Jahangirpuri) - Yellow Line

Line - 2 (HUDA City Centre - Jahangirpuri) was made operational for commercial services in five stages:

(1) Vishwavidyalaya - Kashmere Gate : with effect from 20^th December, 2004 (Phase - I).

(2) Kashmere Gate - Central Secretariat : with effect from 3^rd July, 2005 (Phase - I).

(3) Vishwavidyalaya - Jahangirpuri : with effect from 3^rd February 2009 (Phase - II).

(4) HUDA City Centre - Qutab Minar : with effect from 21^st June 2010 (Phase - II).

(5) Central Secretariat - Qutab Minar : with effect from 3^rd September 2010 (Phase - II).

Line 3 (Dwarka Sector 21 - Noida City Centre) - Blue Line

Line - 3 (Dwarka Sector 21 - Noida City Centre) was made operational for commercial services in six stages:

(1) Barakhamba - Dwarka : with effect from 31^st December 2005 (Phase - I)

(2) Dwarka - Dwarka Sector 9 : with effect from 1^st April 2006 (Phase - I).

(3) Barakhamba - Indraprastha : with effect from 11^th November 2006 (Phase - I).

(4) Indraprastha - Yamuna Bank : with effect from 10^th June 2009 (Phase - II).

(5) Yamuna Bank - Noida City Centre : with effect from 13^th November 2009 (Phase - II).

(6) Dwarka sector 9 - Dwarka Sector 21 : with effect from 30^th October 2010 (Phase - II).

Line 4 (Yamuna Bank - Anand Vihar ISBT) - Blue Line

Yamuna Bank - Anand Vihar ISBT : with effect from 6^th January 2010 (Phase - II).

Line 5 (Inderlok - Mundka) - Green Line

Inderlok - Mundka : with effect from 2^nd April 2010 (Phase - II).

Line 6 (Central Secretariat - Badarpur) - Violet Line

Elattuvalapil Sreedharan who has given the nation the hugely impressive Delhi Metro project, has been rated one of India's 50 most powerful  people by India Today magazine.The 74-year railway engineer from Kerala, now the managing director, Delhi Metro, insists he is just doing a job entrusted to him by the government.Other members involved in DMRC are as follows-

The Delhi Metro, a mass rapid transit system built and operated by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), serves many parts of Delhi as well as the satellite city of Gurgaon and Noida. 

Delhi Metro is a world-class metro. To ensure reliability and safety in train operations, it is equipped with the most modern communication and train control system. It has state-of-art air-conditioned coaches. Ticketing and passenger control are through Automatic Fare Collection System, which is introduced in the country for the first time. Travelling in Delhi Metro is a pleasure with trains ultimately available at three minutes frequency. Entries and exits to metro stations are controlled by flap-doors operated by 'smart-cards' and contact less tokens. For convenience of commuters, adequate number of escalators are installed at metro stations.feature of Delhi Metro is its integration with other modes of public transport, enabling the commuters to conveniently interchange from one mode to another. To increase ridership of Delhi Metro, feeder buses for metro stations are Operating. In short, Delhi Metro is a trendsetter for such systems in other cities of the country and in the South Asian region.
